Position Summary: The Director, Global Communications, is responsible for maintaining and strengthening the company’s positive external and internal reputation and culture to both employees and external stakeholders. In addition, the Director, Global Communications will provide excellent and responsive support for key executive, business, region and function initiatives, and communicate strategic imperatives, through the development and execution of communications programs. This role will also partner with communicators globally in the implementation of their strategies and programs.
How you will make an impact:
Partner with executive leader of the Compliance and Legal functions and their respective leadership teams to strategically develop and execute external and internal communications plans and messaging that support key initiatives, including many highly confidential activities.
Lead the strategic development and execution of broad communications tools and ensure consistency of global messaging to reinforce/strengthen employee engagement.
Oversee the development of programs and tools that honor the legacy of Endotronix and promote Edwards’ culture to external and employee audiences.
Participate in cross-functional teams to support strategic communications for stakeholder engagement.
Travel internationally to support the function and employee engagement needs.
What you will need (required):
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, business administration, marketing or political science
Minimum of 12 years previous experience in an external/internal or multi-disciplinary communications role, in an in-house or agency position
Experience working in or for a global organization, and experience leading or working with global teams
Experience and ability in implementing multi-country and cross-cultural communications programs, working with partners to ensure local messages in-language are understandable and resonate with the audiences
Ability to lead development of communications strategy through interactions with business partners and company leadership
Ability to partner with and provide support and direction to in-country communications teams across a region
Solid presentation and speaking skills, and experience coaching others in presentation or media engagement
Keen understanding of the social media landscape and ability to advise on its use for communications strategy and programs for company, patient / consumer and clinician stakeholders
Excellence in the lifecycle of written communications, including research, drafting, editing and securing approvals. These written materials may include internal announcements, monthly/quarterly updates via written or video messages, articles, interview briefings or reports, as well as scripts/speeches, presentations, research and benchmarking
Ability to demonstrate accountability for results of projects or teams, and sound business judgment/decision-making
Ability to work and excel within a fast paced and dynamic work environment
Keen understanding of media relations with emphasis on story/message development and ability to provide guidance and advice on media strategy for both proactive and reactive opportunities
Ability to build productive relationships and work cooperatively with internal and external business partners across a variety of functions and geographies in order to deliver on commitments
Proven track record in managing teams and ensuring talent development at all levels of the organization, and ability to manage teams across countries
Experience collaborating with multiple corporate departments and outside consultants to manage diverse projects
Experience with access to and responsibility for confidential information and projects
Experience with and ability to counsel senior leaders on communications challenges, opportunities
Responsive, ability to multi-task, project manage and balance client demands while meeting or exceeding multiple deadlines
Attention to detail
Ability to calmly respond to unexpected issues and crises

For Illinois, the base pay range for this position is $141,000 to $200,000 (highly experienced).
