In this role, you will engage in production planning and raw material procurement and management. You will also act as the single point contact for supply chain activities assigned production line(s).
How you will make an impact:
- Plan materials requirements and place purchase orders from outside suppliers to support production schedules and new product launches, with increased complexity and volume, including:
- Negotiating pricing and delivery
- Working with the supplier to ensure materials are made to the proper specs as well as returns when products doesn’t meet specifications
- Notifications of Changes (NOCs) prioritization and management
- Management of Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) when applicable
- Leading cross functional teams to resolve obstacles to meeting the schedule, including, but not limited to, resolving issues with non-conforming material, unclear specifications or vendor capacity constraints
- Analyzing current EW and VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) levels to determine if VMI release is warranted, and communicate inventory and future requirements to supplier
- Expediting purchase orders as required. Includes expediting material from the receiving dock though receiving inspection, to production stores
- Provide monthly forecasts to key suppliers
- Handle any issues related to inventory returns, replacements, and credit arrangements promptly
- Interplant transfers for items that the site supplies to other Edwards sites (including the creation of transfer orders)
- Develop the Manufacturing Production Plan from the Master Production Schedule and or project team requirements with increased complexity and volume and with higher level of autonomy. Development includes the following:
- Manage issues preventing execution of the MPS and production plan. Issues include but are not limited to non-conforming materials or processes, material or equipment availability, completing unplanned requirements
- Analyze resource availability, develop short and mid range capacity plans with manufacturing teams, and lead teams to ensure plans are met
- Generate work orders (WO, WA, WR, WD) using the Manufacturing Enterprise system
- Manage and prioritize work order progress, including working with production and other supporting departments (e.g., quality, microbiology, engineering) to ensure production plans are met
- Be able to manage and plan production in a Pull environment
- Generate regular reports on production performance, including key metrics such as scrap tracking, on-time delivery, and production efficiency
- In the case of subassemblies, it also includes the creation of a Master Production Schedule
- Internal communication management.
- Establish and maintain gross inventory targets with a limited scope. Includes developing action plans to minimize inventory exposure and for scrapping or mitigating excess and obsolete parts based on business information.
- Cost management (AOP, PPV, E&O)
- Standard meeting attendance and participation, include but not limited to:
- Daily tier meetings
- Quality Reviews
- Supplier Business Reviews
- Operations Reviews
- Project Reviews
- Supply Chain updates
- Pull updates
- Ensure compliance with standard cost for assigned commodities
- Other duties assigned by Leadership
What you'll need (Required)
- Bachelor's Degree and 3 years’ previous related experience
What else we look for (Preferred):
- Proven expertise in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in purchasing and/or production control
- Experience working in a medical device and/or regulated industry
- Experience in sourcing, purchasing, and managing electronic component & PCBA
- Experience 1st or 2nd tier ERP (e.g JDE)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills
- Good problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Full knowledge and understanding of Edwards policies, procedures and guidelines relevant to purchasing material and/or production control
- Solid knowledge of material requirements planning (MRP) and inventory management programs (e.g, JIT/Kanban, Min/Max)
- Solid knowledge of market and economic indicators, practices and procurement procedures
- Strict attention to detail
- Ability to interact professionally with all organizational level
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Must be able to work in a team environment, including inter-departmental teams, representing the organization on specific projects, and vendors/suppliers - Ability to build productive internal/external working relationships
- ASCM (Association for Supply Chain Management) certification preferred
- Experience working in a medical device and/or regulated industry preferred
- Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control

For Illinois (IL), the base pay range for this position is $66,000 to $94,000 (highly experienced). The pay for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g., qualifications, education, prior experience).
