Every Heartbeat Matters because everyone deserves access to structural heart treatment and the opportunity to thrive.

Every Heartbeat Matters (EHM) is the global health initiative led by Edwards and Edwards Foundation committed to improving access to treatment for structural heart patients facing barriers. EHM is grounded by our belief that everyone deserves access to structural heart treatment and the opportunity to thrive.

The pinnacle of EHM is an underserved structural heart patient getting treatment who otherwise would not – this is where Edwards’ expertise, employees and technology can make the greatest impact. We prioritize clinical education on structural heart treatment, which exponentially impacts patients and drives sustainability.

Since 2014, Edwards and its foundation have leveraged over $100 million in financial and technology donations, and employee expertise, to create a community of partners that collectively has improved the lives of over 4 million structural heart patients facing barriers.

As we look to 2030, we will  focus our global health impact on:

  • Increasing access to structural heart treatment for patients facing barriers – breaking down financial, systemic, and geographic barriers so underserved patients can receive the treatment they need.
  • Focusing our efforts on:
    • Detection: Investing in disease detection when essential to enabling a sustainable treatment program
    • Treatment: Prioritizing structural heart treatment – where Edwards can make the greatest impact with our expertise
    • Strengthen: Strengthening partner capabilities to scale treatment impact
  • Amplifying patient impact by engaging the talent, passion, and expertise of our employees and trusted experts.
  • Prioritizing low‑ and middle‑income countries where structural heart treatment is limited and health systems are change-ready, notably where employees can contribute to drive more impact.

We believe the Every Heartbeat Matters community will impact 2 million more structural patients facing barriers by the end of 2030.

Defining underserved

We identify underserved patients as those who have a shortage of primary care health services as defined by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and may face economic, cultural, or language barriers to health.

Technology donations

We partner with MAP International to offer donated Edwards technologies to physicians performing humanitarian care outside the U.S. Through this partnership, we also offer patient care packages, assembled by employees, to give to underserved patients around the world.
