Patients
Identifying aortic stenosis early on enables you to explore treatment options and make the best choice for your lifestyle.
Follow the ACC/AHA guidelines to treat aortic stenosis
Aortic stenosis is one of the most common and serious heart valve diseases, and many patients go undiagnosed and untreated. With these patients in mind, the American Heart Association launched Target: Aortic Stenosis in 2020 at 15 sites across the United States, with support from Edwards Lifesciences. The patient-centered initiative is dedicated to effective identification and appropriate treatment of aortic stenosis, a structural heart disease that can lead to heart failure and death.
The Target: Aortic Stenosis initiative is expanding nationally to formalize a robust quality program for managing aortic stenosis patients from diagnosis to treatment and share best practices to optimize quality and improve equity in care.
The goal of the Target: Aortic Stenosis initiative is to enhance the patient experience from symptom onset to appropriate diagnosis and follow-through, to timely treatment and disease management. The program consists of evidence-based measurement development to better identify and treat patients, as well as multimedia educational resources for patients and healthcare providers below:
